Aisling wandered into the Hanged Man, saying hello to Isabela and Varric before looking for a certain small, disagreeable boy. She needed his help, as much as she hated to admit it, and it wasn't something that could wait forever. This meant she had to do something that offended her...

She had to make nice and possibly beg the kid for help.
Or, what would happen if Hawke came down Sundermount alone.

Or not alone, but ignore that bit.
Hawke rode the lift down to Darktown, looking for the lit lantern. She had just gotten done with having yet another 'play nice with the other children' talk with Fenris and now she needed Anders to help her understand the other petulant child and what on earth she had done to offend him.

Oh. There it was. Different than last time, but that was probably to be expected.
Aisling walked toward one of the entrances to Darktown with Fenris in tow. The elf, as usual, carried a greatsword that was bigger than he was. As a result, he leaned forward to maintain his balance. Aisling had to admit, it was impressive that he could carry that thing, much less do damage with it. And Fenris knew how to do damage.

"Are you certain we need the abomination with us on this?" the broody warrior griped, frowning.

"If you can name me a better healer, I'll give you a sovereign," Hawke joked, shooting him a smile. "Really, though, give him a chance. You two are more alike than you think."

"Oh? In what way?" The elf looked somewhere between curious and offended.

"Well, you both glow, for starters. You both give Varric plenty of material for stories. And then there's the whole 'tormented runaway' thing you've got going on."

"In case you haven't noticed, I'm not running anymore."

Aisling shook her head as Fenris nearly tripped. He was clearly more focused on what he was saying than where he was going. Maybe she should change the subject before one of them took a header down a flight of stairs. "That's true. So, speaking of that, when are you going to let me help you get those mouldering bodies out of your mansion? I imagine they're stinking up the place something awful."

"I've seen worse," he replied, waving it off. "Besides, why miss a chance to defile something that once belonged to a magister?"

"Okay, fair point, but can't you do that with graffiti instead of rotting corpses? That can't be pleasant to live around."

Aaaaaand now he wasn't responding. Good job, Hawke. Well, on to Darktown, then! Maybe when they got to the clinic, she would have someone to talk to that had moods besides brooding and angry. Fenris wasn't a bad person - far from it, and she could understand his distaste for anything that reminded him of what he'd left behind - but he was a bit humorless sometimes. Sooner or later, though, she would make him crack a smile. That was her new mission in life, so she'd have to be careful not to snuff it before it was achieved.

Which meant she might live two or three hundred years, at this rate.
Aisling Hawke was browsing through one of the stalls in Lowtown, looking for a new blade. Blades were nice, especially the big, sharp ones. These, unfortunately, were low quality. She turned her back on the stall with a frustrated huff and headed towards the Hanged Man. Maybe there was something interesting going on there, or possibly some coin to be earned.

Or, the post from which we shall dangle the actual thread.
They had been rambling down the mountain for some time now, coming around as they went. Hawke stopped suddenly, signalling for Anders to do the same. She tilted her head as though listening for something, and after a minute seemed satisfied.

"You don't have to hide yourselves, you know. And besides, would Keeper Marethari really want you pointing arrows at a friend of your clan?"
Things were going just fine right up until the revenant showed up.

Hawke had just been minding her own business, looking for reagents with Anders, Fenris and Sebastian (and wondering what had possessed her to bring that particular trio on this trip). It had been going quite well, she thought. They had found lots of elfroot, at least.

And then the revenant happened, and Hawke had pulled a rookie move. She had leapt without surreptitiously testing the ground she was going to land on first. The last she'd seen of her companions was their horrified expressions as she fell through that thrice-blighted hole.

Needless to say, she wasn't pleased with where she'd ended up.

Ten minutes out of that cavern and she already had no clue where she actually was, other than that she was still on Sundermount. She couldn't even find the cavern entrance again.

Damn it.

Damn it to the Void.
